When people talk about the Grand Canyon, many say that pictures do not do it justice. I did not believe that until I found myself staring at it breathless. Over spring break, I took a trip to the Grand Canyon. It brought me much more than a breathtaking view.
My tour bus took three hours to get to the Grand Canyon. Miles of pines and sweeping hills lead us to our final destination. We spent two hours there walking around the park. My tour guide told us that over that two hours spent, we only saw about 7 percent of the Grand Canyon. It really is that big. I sat on a ledge of the Canyon for a while just staring at it. The shapes and colors seemed too good to be true.
The cover picture of this article is just an idea of what it feels like to be present at a place like this. I felt so small compares to the sweeping valleys and large rocks. I thought a lot about how we really are just a small part of this world. In order to leave our mark, we have to work hard to make a difference.
I wish I could put into words what it's like to see a sight like this. It's almost impossible to give you an idea of the experience. It all just seems impossible that something like the Grand Canyon could just happen. Behind miles of pine trees and sweeping hills, is this 277-mile long wonder. The Grand Canyon reminded me that what we deem impossible, is just within our reach. The person you want to be and the dreams you long to achieve are just within your reach if you put in the time.
Seeing the Grand Canyon was a bucket list goal completed for me. Not only did I get to see the Grand Canyon, I got to see it with my dad. It was an experience I will always remember. This was a goal of both of ours for a long time and we just did it. The Grand Canyon serves as a reminder to defeat the impossible and just do what you aspire in this short life.
