What To Be Thankful For As An FSU Seminole

There’s so much to be thankful for this year, our political situation not being one of them. However, at least we have our health, our families, and the Florida State Seminoles. That time of the year has come again, but this time, I’m not talking about Thanksgiving. I’m talking about UF hate week. This is a time for all past, present, and future Seminoles to stand together and be thankful for the fact that we are fortunate enough not to wear the horrid colors that are orange and blue. In honor of Thanksgiving, and the team we love to hate, here’s a list of what to be thankful for as Seminoles.

1. We're not Canes

We can have music at our tailgates, we have a stadium on our campus, and our fan base actually attended FSU. Need I say more?

2. Dalvin Cook

You mean the Nation’s top running back who just broke the record for most rushing yards? The one who cannot be stopped? The backbone of all things FSU?

3. Jimbo Fisher

Never leave us. I beg of you. The nickname “Jimbeaux” isn’t even that cool.

4. The corndog stand outside of Standard

The man who runs that stand should be given a key to the city.

5. And free hotdogs outside the church on Thursdays

They don’t limit you to just one either…

6. A nightlife

There’s a reason why everyone comes to Tally for a big game day, Halloween, St. Patrick’s Day, birthdays, etc. You get my point. We’re thankful to have it year around. Oh, and don’t forget to tip your bartenders.

7. Tradition

Renegade and Osceola at the beginning of every home game is unlike any other college football tradition. Besides that, we have the Tomahawk chop

8. Jameis Winston

Our former quarterback actually succeeded after his time at FSU and went on to be the QB for Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Us Noles are just thankful he didn’t go to the Cleveland Browns just to end his football career to become a baseball player.

9. The "Sod Cemetery"

Personally, I think this is the coolest thing about our FSU football team. Any UM, UF, or game that we win where we are considered underdogs, we cut out a piece of turf and bury it in our practice field with a tombstone commemorating our win. Just goes as a reminder of how good we are.

10. We're not Gators

The number one thing to be thankful for this year, and every year at that, is that we’re not Gators. All I can say is "Go Noles".

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
