What Your Starbucks Order Says About You

I am not a psychologist, but I’d like to think that my many hours of people watching in Starbucks while I procrastinate on my homework has made me pretty good at analyzing people. Let me break the menu down and tell you who orders what... according to my studies.

"Large" Hot Coffee

Oh you mean a Venti? Did you want Blonde Roast? Dark Roast? Pike Place Roast? COME ON!

This is most likely a business man who works long hours and would prefer caffeine through an IV, but settles for stopping at any coffee place he sees on his morning commute. He probably ordered while on a business call, or checking his email.

Venti-Non-Fat-Caramel-blah-blah-blah

This is ordered by your typical "white girl." She is probably a regular and is probably rolling her eyes at the long line of people in front of her, who don’t know what they are ordering. She already has her “Gold Member” rewards card open on her iPhone before she even gets to the front of the line and brought her own Starbucks travel tumbler.

Iced Green Tea or Green Tea Latte

Ordered by a girl in her late 20s dressed in workout gear and probably just came from an early morning Bikram yoga, or a spin class. She is trying to keep it low calorie, while still getting enough caffeine to get herself to her next exercise class she has scheduled.

Strawberries & Creme Frappuccino

Most likely ordered in bulk by multiple middle-school aged kids who are finally allowed to walk around the strip mall without parental supervision after school. At almost 500 calories each, they are perfectly paired with a cookie or cake pop for even more of a sugar coma, which these pre-teens are looking for.

Triple Shot Espresso

This last drink is ordered by people like myself, trying to get the most caffeine into my body by paying the least amount of money. When you’re working on a deadline, but also on a budget like most college students, this drink is the go to.

And yes, I am sipping on a nice “trip-shot-espy” as I write this article.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
