If You're Single This Valentine's Day, Here Are 10 Things To Make The Day Still Somewhat Pleasant

February 14 doesn't have to be awful just because you're not in a relationship.

It's easy to envy the people with awesome plans on Valentines Day. Whether or not you are single by choice, you still need to make the most of your night.

So, whether you decide to have a super fun galentines celebration, or snuggle up to some ben and jerrys by yourself, here are a few things you can do to not completely hate this holiday.

1. Host a 'Singles Only' party

If you're looking to forget about the fact that you're alone this Valentines Day, then you might as well spend it with other single people. There is no point in going out and seeing all of the happy couples when you can instead all bask in your singleness together and not be sad about it.

2. Take yourself shopping

If you're feeling sad this holiday, treat yourself! Maybe what you need is not a new man, but a new purse. Seriously, you would be surprised how therapeutic picking out a new pair of shoes is. So, why not do some damage this Valentines Day instead of wallowing in sadness.

3. Cry over "The Notebook"

On the other hand, maybe you're the type of person who thrives off of the one day where you get to feel as sorry for yourself as you feel is appropriate. Maybe you broke up with your boyfriend last week, or maybe you have not been in a relationship in 2 years. Either way, soak up every sappy Ryan Gosling moment. Let's face it, you deserve it.

4. Buy yourself an incredible amount of chocolate

I highly suggest combining number 3&4 for the ultimate sappy night-fest. Who would have thought that romcoms coupled with lots of chocolate could make you so happy. I mean, if you have both, do you really even need a boyfriend? Probably not.

5. Binge watch Netflix

Maybe you're guilty of doing this on a regular basis, but hey, why not make a holiday out of it! If binge watching Grey's is a regular thing for you, consider this the one day where it is more than okay to do, and is even encouraged.

6. Go on a blind date

This could be your shot at making this Valentine's Day better than you expected... or worse. Regardless, it will at least be more interesting than Chinese Take-out and a movie by yourself. Take a chance, maybe you'll find the one!

7. Read a romance novel

If you've seen every romance movie and are looking for something new, then try a book! There is only a small chance that you have read every Nicholas Sparks movie out there, maybe the books are better than the movies.

8. Go to dinner with your parents

Third wheeling without the guilt! Take some inspiration from your parents' relationship, or anyone else that you can guilt into letting you get in on their Valentine's Day plans.

9. Spend the day at the spa

Once again, treat yourself, because why not? This is a day that you do not have to feel upset just because you don't have someone special by your side.

10. Don't celebrate at all

And if all else fails, just refuse to acknowledge the holiday all together and just go on with your life like a normal day. Relationships? Gross.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
