Decorating your graduation cap: the last crafting test of college. This one may even be bigger than all of those coolers that you made all of the fraternity boys that don't really care. This is a smaller area and there are so many things you want to include on it, so it's important to strategize. Here are some things I think are necessary to put on your cap (but in an organized and not blinding way):
1. Your letters/something to symbolize your sorority: You were a part of this organization for four years (or maybe three for those of you that joined late). Most likely, that means that the sisterhood had a positive impact on you and meant a lot to you. By including your letters or some symbol to reflect your sorority, it's a testament to your sisters that helped you get through these last few years. Whether they were your late night study buddies, workout partners, or never said no to a night of margaritas, they were your girls and it's important to recognize that. Say thank you to them.
2. Something to do with your major: You're graduating with that cool piece of paper that you shelled out thousands of dollars to obtain, so recognize that. Whether you're implying your future plans by displaying your future job in some way, or you're actually just spelling it out by saying "Business," you should be proud of the degree you've earned.
3. Something witty/a quote: Do something that reflects you as a person outside of your major and the organizations you were a part of. Even though you're an engineering major, that doesn't mean you can't love a good Hemmingway quote, especially if it's what got you through these last four years. Make sure your cap isn't focused on just the surface stuff that everyone already knows about you, but that it gets a little deeper.
4. Mom and dad: C'mon, show a little love to the people that put you on this earth and dealt with your weekly breakdowns and thousands of dollars shelled out. Say thank you!
The main idea of your graduation cap is to make sure that it reflects you. If you want to keep it simple, do that. If you had a crazy four years and you want your cap to reflect that, do that. Don't make it TOO busy and hard to follow, but make it appealing. Make it Pinterest worthy!
