The last presidential debate has successfully done what it has intended to- start a debate.
We have become a completely split society: Clinton, Trump, or boycott voting. What are our roles in this debate as Christians? After the first debate, I heard a song called “Break Every Chain,” and in this song, the lyrics are “There’s an army rising up.”
We as Christians, along with the rest of the world, only see corruption and hate rising. No matter your political views, the grass is just as brown on either side. The world looks to only be rising with hate and controversy.
However, we as Christians need to lay our weapons down and build an Army. We are arguing over politics and leaving our purpose aside. We are utterly caught up in building our armies politically, yet before we even knew of this bogus election, we were called to build the Lord’s Army.
We would be in a lot better place if we as Christians would be less concerned about building a wall or not and more concerned about building the Kingdom of God. We are being completely distracted from our work for God. It is truly amazing how little the light of Jesus while arguing politics until you’re blue in the face.
My question is, since when are so worried over the authority of our country when our God has made it very clear we do not even belong to this world? I am not discouraging politics. I have already voted because it is my role as a citizen, but my first role is to bring the Kingdom of God to earth.
We have become so involved in building up the armies of our political candidates and fighting the opposing one that we forget to build our Army for God.
Our army, in that song, is to break chains. If we feel like our country is trapped in this situation, why don’t we build the army that breaks chains?
I can’t remember where I heard this, so I take claim in no way- but I was reminded of how there were always Kings in Bible times. Xerxes had planned to kill all off the Jews, yet God was still in control and changed that situation. Nebuchadnezzar wanted the people to bow to other gods, yet the Lord put people in his life to soften his heart. Daniel was told he could not pray, yet my God shut the mouths of lions. Since when has God not had power over any ruler?
Our worries are not with this world, but what God has called us to do. Our trust in Him should exceed our fears for our country. The day we elect our new president, our Almighty will still be on the throne.
