What You Should Know Before Dating A Hopeless Romantic

You know the type: favorite movie is by far The Notebook, and dreams someone will sing us our favorite love songs. I am only slightly ashamed to admit that I am a hopeless romantic. I mean as I write this, I am listening to country love songs, melting at every sweet verse. We are somewhat displaced from reality because at a young age we fell in love with the effortless, perfect, Disney kind of love and we have our hearts dead set on finding it. For this reason, we can be especially hard to date because we will constantly wonder if the other person feels the same way towards us. We are always questioning everything because we sometimes don't realize that other people don't have the same love language as us. They don't express their love through cute songs and quotes, and sometimes we can be super annoying or come on too strong. We can't help it, though; when we love, we give it our all. We are typically idealists who believe that the head-over-heels, Noah and Allie love is completely possible. With that said, there are angels on this Earth who know exactly how to deal with us, and for that, we thank you endlessly. Here are some things you should know before falling in love with a hopeless romantic:

1. The quickest way to our hearts is a cute song.

If you tell a hopeless romantic a song that reminds you of them, they will literally be the happiest person on the planet. It feels good to put your love story to music.

2. Please try to suffer through the rom-coms.

Yes, we know this is the tenth time we've watched A Walk to Remember but please realize how happy it makes us. Also, be prepared because we cry at the most random, adorable parts of all movies.

3. Draw us a picture, pick us a dandelion, or send us a quote.

It's truly the little things that get to us. We don't expect extravagant dates or crazy gifts, just show us you care in little ways throughout the day. You'll never know how quickly that can make our day.

4. Tell us when we're being crazy.

We heavily rely on you to keep our feet on the ground. When we are on spending way too much time on Pinterest and we're already planning our dream house, please remind us that we need to relax. Think Leslie Knope on a parks project: that's our brains 24/7, always dreaming of how to make the world and our lives better. Be our Ben Wyatt.

5. We're going to love you more than you thought possible.

We can be too much for many people. If you can't handle it, it's not your fault, because many can't. At least try to realize it early, because once we fall in love, we fall hard.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
