What Really Happens When You Try An Instagram Teatox

If you scroll through Instagram, it is hard not to come across some celebrity endorsing one of the many “teatoxes.” Everyone from Kylie Jenner to Vanessa Hudgens seems to be sipping these miracle teas. There are many different brands of teas such as Flat tummy tea, Fit tea, Bootea, etc. but they all make very similar claims. They advertise that they can boost your energy, promote an increase in metabolism and weight loss and decrease bloating. The real question is are any of these claims true? After a summer of improving my eating and exercising more, I had hit a weightless plateau and decided to try Fit Tea to see if I could break through it and also see if it just worked in general. As someone who hates tea, I thought that this wasn’t going to be that fun but I was surprised. The tea tasted amazing and it was super easy to remember to drink it every morning or before a workout. Also, it did not make you excessively go to the bathroom like I feared it would. However, the results of the other claims varied...

1. Energy

I have to admit that I did feel a lot more energetic. Coffee is something that doesn’t really boost my energy at all so I was surprised this tea actually worked for me. I found it best to drink the tea before a work out because it really helps you to power through and push a bit harder.

2. Bloating

There is no denying the results when it came to bloating. My stomach appeared so much flatter it was incredible. I would recommend this product to anyone just because of how well it helped with bloating.

3. Weight loss/boosted metabolism

Honestly there was no real change on the scale for me. I did not seem to lose any weight so that boosted metabolism thing is probably not correct.

In conclusion, will this tea give you the body of your dreams and turn you into Kylie Jenner? No, it will not. Weight loss can only come from eating right and exercise and all those fit people who advertise this tea on Instagram look the way that they do through living a healthy lifestyle. However, this tea can help you to just look a little better with decreasing bloating and can help boost your energy.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week.
