What I Realized About Disney World

For spring break this year, I went with my family to Disney World, and it was the best spring break ever.

As we parked the car and boarded the monorail headed to Magic Kingdom, I found myself taking a moment to recollect on past experiences here and wondering what my take away from today would be. I looked around and saw so many young families-kids with their magic bands on, the backpacks and strollers with all kinds of snacks and juice boxes. I saw babies being carried in carriers on their parents chest, too small to realize the amazing experience their family is about to embark on. I caught myself for a moment asking "Am I too old to be coming here? Why am I still excited to see what the day brings?"

As we got off the monorail, a sense of overwhelming excitement came upon me. There it was- Disney World, Magic Kingdom. Its signature landmark, the Castle. Wow it was all so breathtakingly beautiful. I followed behind my parents and siblings who are older than me, continuing to take it all in. There were tons of photographs being taken, instant smiles upon all faces. I could see the excitement on my parent faces, along with my brother and sister. Among our smiles we reminisce on our memories asking each other "remember this?" Then I realized, Disney World truly is a magical place. Everyone is happy and radiating peace and optimism. The stress of the world becomes non-existent. Our minds escape to child-like imaginations, to the things that once made us so happy.

While at Disney World, like everywhere in life, memories are constantly being made to be forever held in our hearts.

What an amazing concept Walt Disney created. A place for the young and young at heart. A place where our dreams of being surrounded by constant happiness and a certain innocence really does come true.

As the hours passed, and the day slowly comes to an end, I thought back to the question that momentarily popped into my head on the monorail ride over.

No, I am definitely not too old, nor will I ever reach the point in which I am "too old" for Disney World. I welcome every opportunity to return to this truly magical place. I hope to provide the opportunity to give back to my own family what my parents provided for me. The world of innocence and happiness. A place we can retreat back to where we realize just how awesome life is. The gift of family, the gift of love. No one will ever be "too old" for that. It is family and love that keeps us forever young.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
