Chances are that all you have heard about recently is Pokémon Go. Everyone is playing; millennials play it for nostalgia and the generations below them play it because it is just pure fun. If you have not, Pokémon Go is a location-based reality mobile game. This game allows you to go and catch Pokémon all across the world on your smartphone.

Chances also are that you have heard all the negative things that have come of the game. It is causing distractions on the road and muggings but there are ways to prevent these things from happening. That is not what I am going to write about today. I am going to tell you about all the wonderful things that Pokémon Go is doing for millennials.

I, myself, and all the other millennials in the world have heard all our lives that we are too caught up in social media and never talk face-to-face anymore. Would you believe me if I told you that Pokémon Go is bringing people together? In the mobile game, players can go to Pokestops around their town or battle for possession of gyms. I can tell you from experience that people are making friends by going to these locations and getting to know each other not just through the game but also face-to-face.

People are getting out of their houses! This one is huge! Obesity and laziness is a growing problem for Americans and many other countries around the world, but this smartphone app has kids on their feet and exploring their neighborhoods. My little brother and I have walked up to three miles in one day playing the game. We have discovered different monuments and landmarks in our town that we didn’t even know existed, even though we have lived here our entire lives.

Pokémon Go is changing the world! In a time when we only hear about death and destruction, it is comforting to be able to escape and meet some new faces while playing a harmless game of Pokémon Go. So, next time you are quick to judge to pack of ten kids walking down the sidewalk with their face in their cell phones, ask yourself, “Am I the very best like no one ever was?” because the millennials are trying to be!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
