Imagine you're a parent,
Imagine you throw a family get together at your house,
Imagine you step aside to fix the fan in the children's play house,
Imagine it is in your backyard, along with your pool,
Imagine two of your very young children manage to sneak through the backdoor and follow the steps down to the pool,
Imagine the youngest, unable to swim, falls of the diving board. Still while your fixing that fan,
Imagine turning around to hear the whisper of your son calling your youngest's name while staring at the bottom of that pool,
Imagine running to the pool to see your youngest child swollen blue with no intent of breathing,
Imagine there is no medical service around within a 20 mile radius,
Imagine no one can hear you inside the house even if you yell,
Imagine the minutes she has remaining.
What do you do?
In 1996, my mother's imagination became reality. As she stood there staring at her daughter swollen with water and dark blue, she knew she was running out of time. She jumped in fully clothed to grab her immediately to perform CPR, while in between breaths yelling for help. My sister thought she was yelling about a spider. Eight minutes passed before she pulled me back into this world. Eight minutes. It took less than one minute for her entire world to collapse. And one minute to get it all back. The doctor said if she would have stopped or went to get help instead of the straight resuscitation I would not be here. She's nothing less than a hero..
She never, I never, and you should never give up on life.
One minute can change everything.
Imagine that.
