Odyssey is a relatively new social content platform in which a community of creators write weekly articles to be shared across the internet. Creators have the freedom to write about anything they want and the only real requirement to joining is that you have to write at least a single article every week. For the past three months now, I’ve written for Odyssey and since I joined I’ve had countless of people approach me inquiring about the platform and what it takes to join. I’ve noticed through multiple conversations with people that the primary reason people are reluctant to join is because they either don’t think they’re a good enough writer or can’t even begin to think about what they’ll write about every week. If you’re thinking about joining an Odyssey community though, know that it’s actually a lot easier to write an article than you may think.
So long as you enjoy writing, it doesn’t really matter whether or not you’re good at it because through Odyssey, you will improve as a writer. Committing yourself to writing weekly is a great way to improve your skills as a writer, and although writer's block can sometimes be a terrible curse, you’ll always eventually come up with something to write. And if for whatever reason you don’t know what you can write about, every week your community’s content strategist (an individual who works for Odyssey and who overlooks our work) will send out a list of ideas about things you can write.
A lot of people think that Odyssey is just a platform for writing articles; however, you’re free to write anything ranging from short stories to poems and you’re additionally not even just restricted to writing, but you can also make videos! Odyssey is still relatively new and rapidly growing. If you’ve been debating about trying Odyssey out, give it a shot and get in on the fun early! Although Odyssey isn’t for everybody, it’s nonetheless a pretty fun experience. Whether you want to write to have your voice heard, or to write about something funny that happened to you recently, check it out and see if your school has an Odyssey community you can potentially join!
