Maybe your team lost in the first round and the big dance has been over for you for a long time now. Maybe you are a Duke fan or a band wagoner, and you are celebrating non-stop. Through all of the depression (I'm truly sorry Wisconsin fans) and the joy, there is one reality that we all must face: March Madness has come to a close yet again. We come to this every single year, and each year gets worse than the last. So, what do you do with your sports interests now? Lucky for you, there is a lot going on right now.
Major League Baseball has just kicked off its season. Opening day was a few days ago, and quite a bit happened. America's favorite pastime is about to control the sports world. Thankfully, there is a lot to keep up with in baseball to keep us in sports mode until football (please Lord send football soon).
The NBA is reaching the playoffs. This is the best part about the start of the summer season. LeBron and the Cavs are making a surge in the East. However, the Hawks are still in the lead. While Steph Curry and the Warriors are kings of the West, things at the bottom are getting interesting. The Thunder and Pelicans are battling it out for the last playoff spot. The race to the playoffs will be great. If the playoffs are anything like last year, the playoffs will be amazing.
If you are a hockey fan, the NHL is also close to their playoffs. The projected match ups are going to be great. Many of the season series are tied or close to tied. If you aren't a hockey fan, now would be a good time to watch some hockey and figure it out the best you can.
In the college world, baseball and softball are in the middle of their seasons. It is not too late to start cheering on your University's team. A good day at the ballpark is always great. It's also great that a college game isn't as expensive as a major league game. Track has just started as well. Though many people aren't track fans, its still great to see some speed and strength so that you can fully appreciate it, when football rolls around.
What I am saying here is that we have reached a lull in the sports world. Yes, it will get boring. But I believe that we can all make it through this slump. Don't worry, fall is coming, and that means football.
