After being with the Dallas Cowboys for 14 years, quarterback Tony Romo has become a free agent as he was released on Thursday.
Romo joined the 2003 NFL Draft but was never picked. As a free agent, he went on to become a Cowboy. It wasn't until 2006 when he had to replace Drew Bledsoe to make his first snap against the New York Giants. Since then, Romo was the trusted man to lead the team. Throughout his career he has taken hits and sacks but was able to come out with a total of 248 touchdowns along with over 31,000 yards. Romo has only appeared in the playoffs four times and had only one victory.
In the 2016 pre-season, Romo suffered a dislocated collarbone, which would sit him down on the bench throughout the regular season. With Dak Prescott's impressive performance during the season, Romo made an announcement to the press that he was handing the torch down to Prescott. With Prescott as quarterback and his outstanding running back, Ezekiel Elliot, the Cowboys went on to the playoffs with a hopeful Super Bowl appearance, but weren't able to take down Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers.
With Romo released, teams now have eyes on him. The teams that are looking at him the most are the Denver Broncos and the Houston Texans.
After Peyton Manning's retirement, the Broncos weren't able to earn a playoff spot as they had Trevor Siemian who only started his career last season. The Broncos ended the season with a record of 9-7.
Texan's quarterback, Brock Osweiler, on the other hand, was able to defeat the Oakland Raiders in the Wild Card but wasn't able to get through the Super Bowl champs, New England Patriots. Before the season, both Osweiler and Siemian signed a four deal.
With these teams looking at Romo, it will probably be a good spot for him since he is not meant to be a backup quarterback. According to a source from Fox Sports, they are trying to have Romo become an NFL analyst since John Lynch went on to become the new San Francisco 49ers general manager. With a vacant seat in Fox Sports, where will Romo be going?
