It is the new year and other than "new year, new me" captions that means New Years resolutions. If you have already failed at keeping your resolutions, don't feel bad, you're not the only one. And who can blame you? When you wanted to eat healthy and work out more you- if you are anything like me- imagined smoothie bowls and boxing like you're Gigi Hadid and Adriana Lima. You know, both activities being simultaneously healthy and aesthetically pleasing for Instagram. But it's been a few days into the new year and you may be realizing that your resolutions aren't all kale and family bonding. And that maybe, again this may just be me, your New Years resolutions look a little different in reality than you imagined them when you on a champagne high.

1. Eat healthy.

It took you two days into eating healthy to realize that you deserve happiness, also known as ice cream.

2. Drink less.

Just one glass of wine.

3. Exercise more.

This one comes with a few steps.

Step 1: The intention.

Step 2: The attempt.

Step 3: The defeat.

4. Socialize a little bit more.

My bed missed me and I can't keep toying with its emotions like this.

5. Spend less, save more.

I can't prove it but I have a strong feeling that no one ever got to heaven and said, "Thank God I didn't buy that pair of shoes."

6. Spend more time with family and friends.

This one just needs to be amended a little bit:"Spend more time with family and friends but not too much."

7. Get organized.

What really is "organized". Do you know what day it is? Do you know when your classes are? Good, resolution complete.

8. "I'm not making any resolutions this year."

9. Learn something new/ getting a new hobby.

You are a busy person, whom more often then not needs at least two naps a day. Why in God's name do you think you have time to take on a hobby?

10. Travel more.

To start a GoFundMe or donate my kidney? That is the question.

11. Read more.

Just pointing out that, the microwave instructions, the menu, the movie times, Facebook statuses, Instagram captions, tweets all require reading.

12. Spend less time watching Netflix, Hulu, Youtube videos, etc.

Quitting cold turkey was unrealistic. That was where this went wrong. Maybe limit yourself to 10 episodes a day and go from there.

13. Gossip less.

You're not proud of it but you need it.

14. Worry less.

15. Be nicer.

Baby steps- there's always next year.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
