From a purely biological standpoint humans are defined as a species of animal. Not much separates humanity from the other species of animals in existence, but the few things that do separate them would seem to be immensely important. One such significant difference would be the concept of morality. Morality helps humans make many decisions (whether for spiritual reasons or not) as such it is interesting to see how morality can be classified.
If you were to ask the common individual how to classify the morality of certain activities they would most likely only place said actions into two categories: good and bad. Said categories of morality are also known as "black and white" (interesting that in a western mindset white is associated with purity and black with nothingness/void/death, yet we say good and then bad, as well as black and then white. Would it not make more sense to structurally organize two phrases, which have the exact same meaning mind you, in a similar manner. I digress). In general, actions can be classified as good and bad all of the time.
Generally most people would agree that you should not murder someone, however from a situational standpoint, some who claimed to be generally against murder will be in favor of the death penalty for certain incarcerated individuals (for varying reasons whether they be rape, treason, terrorism). Is it not interesting that certain individual facts can change the viewpoint entirely of humans (supposed creatures of moral). Let us suppose that morality is only malleable when it comes to matters which can be placed into the bad category, so let us take a look at an event within the good category. Generally (once again) it is considered good to help a fellow human in a time of urgent need, say for instance when they have a knife wound. If this same individual that had the knife wound were a rapist or an abuser, less people would try to help them.
As you can see, slight changes of a scenario can create significant changes in an individuals perception of the overall event. This is why I feel that morality is not black and white but more a series of varying grays. Morality is malleable depending on your current needs and circumstances. Generally it is wrong to steal anything, but what if you are starving to death and you need food?
I am not saying that it is wrong to change how you view a situation based on new events that one has found about. I just thought this was immensely interesting and wanted to express in some amount of detail why I feel that we sometimes, as humans tend to oversimplify things.
