People toss around the phrase “I’ll pray for you,” all the time.
“My dog died.”
“I’ll pray for you.”
“I have a big test next week.”
“I’ll pray for you.”
“I’m struggling to make ends meet.”
“I’ll pray for you.”
But what does it mean?
It’s not some empty condolence. It’s not a mere space filler. It's not a "I don't know what to say so I'll say this," type of thing.
When I say “I’ll pray for you,” what I’m saying is “I love you, I care about you, I want to comfort you in the best way I know how.”
For me, prayer is the greatest comfort there is. When I’m sad, when I’m scared, when I’m lonely, when I just need someone to talk to…I pray. For me, there is no greater love than the one that God has for me. He loves me even when I don’t love myself. He wants to be there for us, to comfort us. In this world of temporariness, He’s constant, steady, unwavering.
When I tell you I’m going to pray for you, I’m not trying to force my beliefs on you. I’m telling you that I’m wishing the best for you, that I’m rooting for you in the best possible way I know how. Picture the greatest love and comfort you can imagine, and THAT is what I’m wishing for you when I say “I’ll pray for you.” I'm wishing you steadiness, support, comfort, stability, and love.
As you read this, I want you to know that I'm praying for YOU too...Praying that every person who lays eyes on this article is blessed and comforted. Praying that every single one of you know that you're loved.
With me, all prayer requests are welcome. Until then, I'll be praying for you.
