On my street in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina there is a chocolate labrador retriever puppy (well, she’s nine but still a puppy at heart #foreveryoung). But what about this dog makes her stand out to me? This doggie does something absolutely adorable that I have only seen in the movies!
Coco, owned by a very kind Mr. Jerry Doyle, has been retrieving the Wall Street Journal newspaper from the end of Mr. Doyle’s driveway since she was a six month old puppy. Coco was never trained to do so. In fact, she even goes out to get it in the rain.
I decided I wanted to write about Coco and her adorable habit so I scheduled a meeting/ photoshoot with Mr. Doyle for one sunny Monday morning. I hid on the front step as she bolted from the garage door, sniffed around, picked up the paper and was headed towards her keeper (before she saw me at least). Very easily distracted, she sort of reminds me of the dog dug on “Up”. She is such an affectionate dog and came right up to say hi to me. Mr. Doyle mentioned how she was a very easy dog to be around.
Loyal as ever, she then took the paper and delivered it straight to Mr. Doyle where he applauded her kind act. You could see the excitement in her eyes and her tail. They went inside to continue their day. I guess it is true what they say about dogs being man’s best friend #bestiesforlife.
