What Makes Sports In Texas Better Than Any Other Place In The World

Growing up in Texas, specifically Dallas, I have been spoiled with great professional sports. I grew up cheering for America's Team, the Texas Rangers, the Mavericks, the Stars, and don’t forget FC Dallas. I also grew up despising any team from Houston or San Antonio. The in-state rivalries are what I care about. Although, sports within the state may divide us to some extent, they also bring Texans together. We are living a luxurious lifestyle when it comes to sports and here is why:

1. America's Team

Texas is literally home to the country's favorite football team and has one of the largest and most devoted fan bases.

2. Friday Night Lights

Texas is king when it comes to high school football. Schools have stadiums bigger than most college teams, homecoming mums originated here, and we produce numerous 4-star and 5-star recruits.

3. Title-Winning Basketball Teams

The Mavericks and Spurs just have a knack for winning championships, and the Rockets might not be far behind.

4. Warm Weather Hockey

What’s more awesome than having great hockey in the South? It doesn’t even have to be cold outside. Beyond being able to wear shorts and a t-shirt to the games, the Stars are actually really talented and may win a championship sooner rather than later.

5. Young and Talented Soccer

FC Dallas and the Houston Dynamo are commanding a spotlight in the realm of soccer, and they are constantly top teams fighting to win championships.

6. Ridiculous Stadiums

Cowboys Stadium, or should I say Jerry World, is ridiculous. Minute Maid Park is just an upgrade on the revolutionary Astrodome. Then in Allen, a $60 million stadium was built to be the home of Allen High School football.

7. Great Baseball

If you want to see some of the country's best baseball you don’t have to travel far -- two of the best teams are already in Texas. The Rangers and Astros are a stunning in-state rivalry and they are threatening to win a championship.

8. Fanatic Fans

The fans are what make all of Texas sports so special. They create a polarizing scene and they have a deep passion for their Texas teams.

No other place on earth can provide the diversity and talented teams that Texas does. I, along with every other Texan, am spoiled to live here and be able to know what great sports are.

Now that Halloween is over, it's time to focus on the Holiday Season. Don't get me wrong, I think Thanksgiving is great and can't wait for it, but nothing gives me greater joy than watching Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas, lighting peppermint scented candles, decking the halls, and baking gingerbread cookies. So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
