The new year quickly approaches and we all have New Year's resolutions in mind. We want to lose weight, earn more money and just have a better lifestyle. We forget about the year that came before and prepare to start anew. So the question to consider is: What is there to look forward to in 2017?

1. "Beauty and the Beast"

This wonderful tale of Belle and the Beast comes to life with Emma Watson and Dan Stevens as they take over the big screens. There is much hype about this film which will come out March 17, 2017. Mark your calendars, this is one you won't want to miss.

2. "Mean Girls" the musical

Get in loser, we are going to a musical. Tina Fey, writer of the movie, has come together with her husband to compose a totally fetch musical about the four girls and the trouble they cause with the Burn book. It is rumored to come out in the fall of 2017, so be aware.

3.Eminem's new album

Sparks flew for Eminem this year as he expressed his opinion on Donald Trump being elected. According to msn.com, Eminem stated that Trump is a "loose canon" and is "blunt with his hand on the button." His new album, The Marshall Mathers LP 2, should be lit and demonstrates how he is "Chuck Norris with a thesaurus."

4. "Guardians Of The Galaxy" Vol. 2

It's a big year for movies and even a bigger year for Chris Pratt. This all too familiar squad has come together for another movie that is to air April 28, 2017. The first one was such a success ($773.3 million worth to be exact) that they just had to film another.

5. Women's March on Washington

Once Trump officially starts "running" the country, women will gather outside of the White House to send a strong statement to Trump. Their goal is to "uplift voices that have been silenced." More than 119,000 people have RSVP'd on Facebook and this event invites both men and women to participate.

2017 is a promising year. Many great films are going to debut, so at least we will be entertained. Many great music artists are releasing albums. The country will see what Trump does during his presidency and if the citizens will agree with it. All I know is, it has to be bette than 2016. Good riddance 2016, you won't be missed.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
