What I Learned From My First Disney World Experience

From the mitten state to the "happiest place in the world."

What I Learned From My First Disney World Experience

For as long as I can remember, I have always been in love with movies, magic, and how good would always conquer evil and how if you work hard enough any wish you had would come true. Perhaps that is why I always dreamt of going to Disney. Of course, that is any 5-year-old's dream, and my dad had promised my twin brother and I that he would take us, but as life would have it, years came and went and time passed and it just never happened. Not from lack of trying, but there were just other things that needed to be taken care of. Now, fast forward 15 years and now here I am a 20-year-old sophomore in college, and I finally hear those magic words fall from my dads mouth: "We're going to Disney World!" You can imagine my surprise and excitement when I finally knew I would be going to the happiest place in the world. Pure magic. Now, I know Spring Break has the images of alcohol and beaches associated with it, but I could not have been happier to go and spend a week with my twin brother and my dad.

Boy, was I right! Right from the get-go, our week was nothing but fun in the sun and business. We were able to explore Magic Kingdom on Monday, Tuesday was Animal Kingdom and Epcot (which ended up being one of my favorite places, probably because of the french cuisine), Wednesday was Universal, and Thursday was Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom in the evening, so we could end our magical week with the light parade and fireworks. It was amazing being able to see all the characters walking around the different parks. Not going to lie...I may have lost it when I saw Stitch!

It was simply a magical experience! Being able to finally share that with my dad and brother was everything I had hoped for and more! Although, by the middle of the week, the fact that we were being exposed to thousands of other people hit me and i became sick. I am still recovering from this sickness as I write this and I must admit to being more than a little irritated with whomever infected me. But despite that, I was still able to make awesome memories at the Star Wars, Star Tours ride, the Rock and Rollin' Coaster, Jurassic Park, etc. The great thing about Disney is that there are literally a million things you can do. The amount of passion and dedication the workers at Disney have for their profession and attention to detail is ridiculously amazing! Everything was fantastic, especially the shows. We saw "Frozen," "Beauty and the Beast," "Indiana Jones," and they were all done so well. I honestly could go on and on all night about what a wonderful experience going to Disney was for me, but instead of giving you a migraine I will just say that I finally understand what the fuss is all about. I love Disney and I will go again in a heartbeat!

Now that Halloween is over, it's time to focus on the Holiday Season. Don't get me wrong, I think Thanksgiving is great and can't wait for it, but nothing gives me greater joy than watching Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas, lighting peppermint scented candles, decking the halls, and baking gingerbread cookies. So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
