Country music is dead. Tell old Hank Williams Jr. to pack it in and take Willie’s weed away because there is a new kind of country music out there and it ain’t what your Daddy listened too. We have this new age of pop country with electronic beats and catchy one liners throughout the song. I don’t know if newer country singers even know what a fiddle is because if they do it isn’t in their music. Now, don’t get me wrong we have a few singers out there like Chris Stapleton and Eric Church who are keeping it old school, but the majority of the other ones, nope. So where did country music go? Did it just change and will t never come back? I have five great ideas as to where it probably went and how we can get it back.
Obama killed our country (music)
Hell, we blame the guy for everything that goes wrong in our country, so might as well blame him for killing our country music too. Seriously though, if you pay attention, before Obama took office, our music was much different than it is now. Toby Keith was singing songs about kicking ass and taking names before Obama, then afterwards he’s singing about a solo cup. Now with this new wave of pop country singers, it seems like too much of a coincidence that he didn’t have anything to do with this crime.
People today can’t sing country music
Hear me out on this one. It may seem a little outrageous but it is possible. What if the genes for being a true country singer have effectively been run out of our country due to old country stars not having kids. It could be a recessive trait that gets repressed with the dominant trait of terrible singing. Either way it is possible that people physically cannot sing songs like Alabama or Johnny Cash did. Thus creating this style of pseudo-country music that we must endure today.
Pop Stars make too much money
This could simply be an economic problem that has started the phenomenon. Due to the laws of supply and demand, people wanted more pop music with the decline in the industry due to the influx of terrible performers like Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus. Thus they turned to country and the singers there started to turn toward pop music. That is why you saw Taylor Swift leave the genre a few years ago. All about supply and demand. People demanded terrible music and the singers were glad to provide them with it.
Everyone is secretly drunk all the time and playing a big joke on us
This is a little out there but it wouldn’t surprise me if one day Luke Bryan announced he was just drunk all the time and was playing a huge joke on all of us. I mean whiskey has been known to make people do crazier things before. Just look at Johnny Manziel, I am about ninety-nine percent sure the Browns were drunk when they drafted him. Soon, it could be something as simple as that: alcohol killed country. Let’s just be glad it’s probably whiskey and not tequila, I couldn’t handle it if Colt Ford’s clothes came off.
All the good songs have already been written
I seriously doubt this is why because I just heard Chris Stapleton’s song Parachute and it is awesome so check that out. But, I included this idea in my list because it is plausible. Garth Brooks had a ton of hit songs and so did George Strait. Hell, they are still writing songs to this day! Maybe, there just isn’t enough good songs to go around. It could be like oil, it’s a finite resource that is slowly running out and we are trying to replace it with an alternative form of music that just isn’t as good as the original. This idea may be out there a bit, but it is something to think about.
So what do you think? Do you think that country music is slowly dying off due to one of these reasons? I mean all of these are highly likely scenarios that have some sort of merit to them. I personally think Obama is behind it. Maybe we will never know what is killing country music, if it is dying. One can only hope that a savior will come down and bring back our beloved music. We need a country music Jesus to come and save us all.
