What Jim And Pam From The Office Have Taught Us About Life And Love

Jim and Pam are the best couple in TV history for so many reasons. Besides being the cutest, they have taught viewers over the years that love is not always fun. They have also taught us that life has a lot of ups and downs, but if you find the right person, you can get through it

Friends first

The Office has made it seem like being friends first before dating someone is the best way to go. Many people happen to agree with this. Jim and Pam are the perfect example of how this happens. Everyday for five seasons, Jim sat across from Pam as she was the receptionist for the office. He was always at her desk just talking to her. They became really close friends and from there, things took off. The office teaches us that being friends first is probably a good idea. Jim and Pam really got to know each other this way.

Waiting has its benefits

Jim waited for Pam for so long while she was dating/engaged to Roy. Jim has taught us that waiting for something is very hard, but in the end it will most likely be worth it. Usually when you wait for something for a very long time like Jim did, it's even better when you finally get it.

LDR's are possible

Even though Pam goes away to art school for a while, her and Jim make it work. They love each other so much that they decide to stay together through their long distance relationship. Jim and Pam even go as far as getting the worlds tiniest bluetooth pieces to keep in their ears so they can talk to each other all day, every day. They have taught us that if the love is real, the relationship will last. More importantly, they have taught us that dating can be tough, but if you work hard, you can survive a long distance relationship. Jim and Pam even got engaged in the middle of their long distance relationship.

Love does not always look good

Jim loved Pam from the start. Even when she was her frizzy haired self, Jim loved Pam for more reasons than just her looks. This is a good lesson from Jim and Pam because they have taught us that if you love someone, you should accept them as they are, and not really care too much about how they look. When Pam gets pregnant, she even throws up in the office and is constantly complaining about smells and pains. Jim sticks with her through it all.

Support is important

Jim and Pam have taught us that supporting your significant other is very important in a relationship. Supporting one another will keep the both of you happy which will in return, keep the relationship as a whole happy. On Jim and Pam's wedding day, Pam gets upset because she doesn't feel good about herself. To make her feel like everything is okay, Jim cuts off half of his tie.

Appreciate one another

Jim and Pam have taught us that appreciating each other in a relationship is everything. Without appreciation, one person can start feeling like they are being taken for granted. Jim and Pam give us great examples of how they show appreciation for one another.

And of course, we can't forget about this note that Pam found from Jim...how cute is that?

Hold on to true love

Lastly, Jim and Pam have taught us to hold on to true love. When you find that special someone, don't let go.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week.
