What I've Learned So Far

I've learned a lot, but still have so much more to learn.

I've learned that no matter how bad life seems today,

It does go on and it will get better tomorrow.

I've learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he or she handles three things:

An unexpected rainy day, spilled drinks, and tangled Christmas lights.

I've learned that regardless of your current relationship with your parents,

Whether it's good or bad,

You'll miss them when they are gone and out of your life forever.

I've learned that making a living isn't even close to the same thing as making a life.

And that very often people fail to see the difference.

I've learned that life sometimes gives you second chance,

So you should gives others a second chance as well.

I've learned that people are going to walk out of your life more often than they walk in,

And you just have to accept it and be thankful for those who stay.

I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on both hands:

Because a lot of the time you'll need to be able to throw something back.

I've learned that whenever I make decisions with an open heart and an open mind,

I usually make the right one and don't regret a thing.

I've learned that even when someone hurts me or puts me in pain,

I don't have to do the same to others.

I've learned that everyday you should make it your effort to reach out and touch someone.

A friendly smile and wave when you pass by them really goes a long way.

I've learned that people will forget what you said,

The clothes that you wore,

And the things that you did.

But people will never forget how you made them feel.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
