What I've Learned During My Time As An Odyssey Writer

Even though this chapter is closing, the Odyssey has given me the tools start my new beginning.

What I've Learned During My Time As An Odyssey Writer

I wrote my first song when I was seven. I won my school Tropicana speech contest in the 4th grade. By the time I graduated from 5th grade, I was writing full-fledged, fictional stories.

When I became an Odyssey writer, it's like everything came full circle.

Over the past 9 months, from week to week, I've written articles and listicles on various topics that appeal to me- from my decision to attend a historically black college all the way to Zayn Malik- and it's been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

I've almost learned too much about myself since becoming an Odyssey writer. I've gained a literary fearless, a strong desire to tell the truth, but most importantly my own voice. With each piece, I've gotten better, faster, and stronger (word to Kanye). I've learned what my strengths and weaknesses are as a writer, and a small addiction to online shopping thanks to those weekly incentives.

All in all, Odyssey has been a great platform to share MY views and opinions on topics that interest ME. It hasn't always been easy; there have been nights that I couldn't find inspiration and had to pull an article from thin air.

But I did it.

I also have to say thank you to any and everyone who has ever shared, or viewed, and article of mine. The support has been overwhelming.

And now that The Odyssey has given me my wings, I think I'm ready to fly.

Before I go, I've categorized every piece I've written for Odyssey which you can view below:

If I have learned one thing in my lifetime, it is that friends are a privilege. No one is required to give you their company and yet there is some sort of shared connection that keeps you together. And from that friendship, you may even find yourself lucky enough to have a few more friends, thus forming a group. Here are just a few signs that prove your current friend group is the ultimate friend group.

When it comes to television, there’s very few sets of on-screen siblings that a lot of us can relate to. Only those who have grown up with siblings knows what it feels like to fight, prank, and love a sibling. Ross and Monica Geller were definitely overbearing and overshared some things through the series of "Friends," but they captured perfectly what real siblings feel in real life. Some of their antics were funny, some were a little weird but all of them are completely relatable to brothers and sisters everywhere.

Her sister was a member, her mom was a member, all of her aunts were members, and her grandma was a member. She has been waiting her whole life to wear these letters and cried hysterically on bid day. Although she can act entitled at times, you can bet she is one of the most enthusiastic sisters.

Every kid in college and/or high school dreams of summer the moment they walk through the door on the first day back in September. It becomes harder and harder to focus in classes and while doing assignments as the days get closer. The winter has been lagging, the days are short and dark, and no one is quite themselves due to lack of energy and sunlight. Let's face it: life is ten times better in the summertime.
