What I've Learned At Temple U Is...
Ellucian

After only two short years at Temple I can definitely say I've had quite the experience here, an experience I never thought I'd have and one that's unique and specific to us students at Temple. After reminiscing on all the unorthodox events that have happened to me while at Temple I came up with this list, WHAT I LEARNED AT TEMPLE U IS...*Spongebob Voice*:

10. How to appreciate free food

We’ve all heard the saying, “free is for me,” but “free food” is arguably the most amazing two words in the English Language. Whether it's the Redbull truck handing out free Redbull, the Italian ice man outside the sac handing out free samples, or free food at some type of event or meeting, free food is always amazing and it tastes ten times better knowing you didn’t have to pay for it.

9. How to manage for two weeks with $5 in your bank account

I know we've all been there opening the PNC app only to find out you have $5 in your bank account, even though you just got paid yesterday, but this happens to me more than ever now that I'm at Temple. Being in the city, there is always something to do and always somewhere to be. The problem with that is that doing things and going places costs money, and I don't know about you, but when that direct deposit hits I feel like a King and my debit card has unlimited swipes on it.

8. How to SEPTA

At first glance riding the bus, or any form of public transportation, might seem interesting, (at least it was for me after growing up in the suburbs all my life) but after awhile riding SEPTA can be one daunting experience. Between the subway dancers, the hobos, and the crazy people its always an interesting time on SEPTA and definitely takes some getting used to.

7. How to make a comeback

I'm sure everyone knows that this past year Temple beat Penn State for the first time since 1941! Go Owls! Being able to see this game and the excitement and energy on campus since is just amazing!

6. How to riot in the streets of North Philly

Everyone remembers labor day weekend 2015. AKA: the weekend of Made in America and the weekend of the Penn State game. Everyone and their mother was out that night partying and rioting through the streets of North Philly. So many crazy things happened that night, from a couch being set on fire to cars being flipped and spray painted. Temple's neighborhood was an absolute mess that weekend!

5.How to avoid the locals

Everyone know Temple's not in the best of neighborhood, but boy does Philly breed something different when it comes to the locals of North Philly. Whether they're asking you for money, screaming across the street to each other, or just acting plain crazy, everyone has learned some tips and tricks how to avoid the awkward run in with the locals who hate Temple students.

4. How to do 9 million things at once

Most of us Temple Owls are really involved in life on campus and being at Temple has definitely taught me how to balance 9 million different things at once. Between classes, homework, exams, work, clubs, and activities, theres a lot going on all the time at Temple and a true owl has to learn how to balance all of this drama at once.

3.How to Club Tech

Now some of you might ask, "what is Club Tech? That sounds awesome!" To a Temple student "Club Tech" is just another term for the dreaded tech center. I know we've all been there, had one of those long sleepless nights slaving over a computer screen at club tech trying to stay awake long enough to finish that ten page paper that you started the night before it was due.

2. How to have a mental breakdown on the daily

Between all the sleepless nights at the tech, the countless hours of class and the limitless amount of homework, sometimes it just gets to you. Some of us more than others. I can't tell you how many times in this semester already (it's only been about a week,) my roommate and I come home and complain about our days and the crazy drama that happened that day. Nine times out of ten we are just being overdramatic, but still, college is a lot of hard work and puts a lot of stress on you. I'm sure I'm not the only one that by the end of a rough day just wants a glass of wine to relax.

1. And Most Importantly, How to TU Turn Up

As we all know, Temple is known for its parties, and I must say there's nothing like going out for Thirsty Thursday to a ratchet party on Gratz with all of your friends. Although I'm not a huge partier, I must say some of my best, and worst, memories at Temple occurred at some ratchet party in North Philly and I wouldn't have it any other way.

an image of taylor swift standing center stage surrounded by her backup dancers in elegant peacock esque outfits with a backdrop of clouds and a box rising above the stage the image captures the vibrant aesthetics and energy of her performance during the lover era of her eras tour

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
