What I've Always Wanted To Say Is....
Marcia Schlei

There are so many times in my life that I've decided to keep my mouth shut rather than speak about how I feel. I know I'm not the only one who has done this and I know there are other people that want to say what I'm about to. So on behalf of all of us, these are all the things I've always wanted to say.

I'll start with what I've always wanted to say to my parents. First of all, thank you. Thank you for providing me with everything I've needed since the day you found out about me. Thank you for believing in me when I didn't even believe in myself. I know you're scared of the fact that I'm growing up and that's okay, because I am too. Lastly, I love you, please don't ever forget that. Whether I am screaming at you and telling you that I hate you or slamming my door in your face; I have and always will love you.

To my friends, both past and present, there are so many things I want to say to you. Despite the fights that inevitably happened throughout the course of our friendship, just know that you will always have a special place in my heart. Even if we no longer talk, the memories we have made together will always stay with me. Please don't ever hesitate to reach out to me, no matter our situation or how far apart we are, I will ALWAYS make time for you.

Next is to my teachers, coaches and every who has helped me along the way. Thank you for pushing me harder and harder each day. Because of all of you I am stronger and more confident than I ever imagined. If it wasn't for you I never would have accomplished my goals and would be burdened with so many regrets. You all mean more to me than you'll ever know. You are some of the most amazing and talented people I have ever been so lucky to work with. I am blessed to have every single one of you in my life.

Most importantly, all the things I need to say to myself. You are strong and beautiful and you can't let anyone tell you differently. You can do anything you set your mind to. Hold you head high and never let your smile fade. Remember that even though you may love someone, if they hurt you they aren't worth a single moment of your time.

Put yourself first, your happiness is just as important as everyone else. A confident woman who stands up for what she believes in, is a successful woman. Never ever let society tell you who you are, and don't for a second think that you have to look like those girls in the magazine. They're not real but you are, and you are just as beautiful as those pictures. Love yourself and never ever forget who you are and where you came from.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
