I remember the week that I got hired at Domino’s. I was sitting in my bedroom one evening when I got a call; the voice on the other end belonged to a Domino’s manager. She asked me if I could come to the store the next day for an interview. Needless to say, I said yes, and I guess the interview went well because I was hired. I went to orientation, received my uniform shirt and visor, passed a drug test, and officially became an employee at one of the country’s biggest pizzerias. Little did I know how much I would actually learn from a temporary part-time job.
1. Knowing how to toss the dough makes for a pretty cool party trick.
2. Being a delivery driver doesn’t mean you’re just a delivery driver.
It also means you’re a dish washer, an oven tender, and an order taker whenever you have down time.
3. The debate between whether insiders or drivers are better will always be an ongoing battle.
P.S. Insiders definitely win.
4. You’ll constantly be asked by managers if you know how to “WOW” a customer.
Answer: apologize, give them what they want, and give them something extra.
5. Top perk of the job: free pizza.
Admit it, you’ve convinced your friend to place an order and then cancel it 10 minutes later so you can finally eat dinner.
6. Kids are always amazed by the employees working on the makeline.
They also never fail to ask the most random questions.
7. The entire team gets amped up right before a big timed order drops, and for the next half hour, the workplace is nothing but chaos.
8. There's nothing more exciting than finally making a large pepperoni pizza faster than your manager.
9. The moment your boss gets a text saying OER is in town, the whole team goes crazy.
10. You’ve lost count of how many times you’ve taken a call from someone asking for Pizza Hut’s phone number.
Thank you. You’re hilarious. I’ve never heard that one before.
11. Your team is your family.
They’ve seen you on your best and worst days, and they’re still there for you no matter what.
