I never really liked the Buffalo Bills growing up. My parents never took me to any games because it wasn’t “family oriented”. When I got to college that all changed. I started going to the home games with my roommates in college and later in the season tailgating with my friends from home. I will never forget the game on Christmas Eve 2016. It was a home game versus the Miami Dolphins. It's the 4th quarter and the game is tied 31 to 31. We go into overtime (which usually doesn't happen often when it comes to the Bills) and the crowd is going crazy. Then, of course, the Miami Dolphins step away with a win during the kickoff. It was devastating, of course - but the energy in the crowd was unlike any sports event I have ever been to. I was screaming at the top of my lungs, people were throwing things and going insane. I was so sure we had the win but of course, at the last second, we lost it.
That’s just the nature of the Bills Mafia. If you don’t know already, the #BillsMafia is the name of the fanbase for the Buffalo Bills. No other team has such loyalty and pride like the Buffalonians do for the Bills. We have the greatest fan base and the largest tailgate in the NFL. Ever. The Bills have not made the playoffs since 1999. That’s 18 years and I can’t even remember it. Each year we say, “This is the year” and of course, it’s not. But we keep hoping and praying and tailgating hard so that one year we will make it and maybe even win the Superbowl. I just hope that I will get to see the Bills win the Superbowl at least once in my lifetime.
Barstool Sports (a popular sports and men’s lifestyle blog) recently came out with a documentary on June 20th, 2017. This was huge for the Bills Mafia because the Bills were getting more recognition than just being that team that loses a lot. It features the infamous Pinto Ron getting doused in ketchup and mustard, the Dildo brothers and much more. Here’s the link to the documentary: http://www.barstoolsports.com/billsmafia/
Tomorrow is the start of the official 2017-2018 NFL season for the Buffalo Bills, and I’m hoping that under new coach Sean McDermott we can get a little closer to the playoffs. I don’t know if it will be this year, but I’m hoping it’s soon. GO BILLS! #BillsMafia
