What's it like to be a Green Bay Packers fan you ask? Well, it's probably the greatest thing on earth.
To start off, I hail from Wisconsin, and the heart of Packer nation. The atmosphere that the team brings to the state is something that I have never seen or experienced before. Yes, here in Kentucky we have the Universities of Louisville and Kentucky who has torn this state's fan base in half. And I have seen my fair share of dedicated fans and admiration for both respective teams, but in the end, being a Packers fan is on a whole other level. We, as a collective group, bleed green and gold. Where else are you going to find a fan base that sell out an entire stadium for a share holders meeting? Or that has a waiting list for season tickets that is so long that it would take decades for one to actually acquire them? Or where fans will sell out a stadium in -40 degree weather and not even bat an eye over it? Or a local church that changed its Sunday mass times so that the congregation, and priest, could get out in time to watch the noon games? Or see a celebration that involves jumping into the stands after a touchdown, which has been banned by the NFL for every team BUT the Packers, and have it coined as the Lambeau Leap? The answer to all those questions, nowhere. Being a Packers fan is more than just being a football fan, it's a way of life. God literally created Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers and put them on this Earth for the sole purpose of slinging touchdowns on Sundays for the Green Bay Packers. We were voted by Forbes in 2014 as the greatest fans in the country in any sport. If that's not proof enough, how about this. On smart phone application stores, there is an app titled Packers Everywhere. What is this app you might ask? It's simple, it asks you for a zip code, and then informs you on the nearest Packers bar within that area. I mean are you freaking kidding me? Is that not the coolest thing ever or what?
Let me get this straight too, if you've never owned a cheesehead or Favre jersey, are you even a real Packers fan? Answer, probably not.
