I've been called an "old soul" before. I get it, whoever said that about me was saying that I have some geriatric tendencies that I indulge in, even though I am in my youth. Yes, I am a grandma in my 20s. There's a lot of things that I love that make me distinct in my manner, which is probably why I have been called an "old soul." In actuality, though, I am just a grandma in my twenties, trying to figure out life like the rest of us. That's fine.
What are some hallmark signs of grandma-isms that I indulge in, you ask? Oh, well let me tell you.
Probably the most easily identifiable one pertains to my love of going to bed early. Of course, when you're in college, it's kind of difficult to actually find time to pass out at 9 p.m. on a week night, but when it does happen, it is glorious.
Carefully notice my grandma sheets. I have also shamelessly taken a selfie when I was going to bed, to showcase my genuine excitement for bedtime/nap time.
Another hallmark of my grandma-ism is my love of tea and coffee. While I know a lot of my peers prefer other beverages on the weekends, my favorite thing is to wake up on a Sunday morning and go out for a nice warm beverage with family or friends and just catch up.
There's also gotta be comfy sweaters. Honestly, there's really nothing better than throwing on a nice ill-fitting sweater and being extremely comfy. Grandmas have this figured out.
Of course, you have to have your glasses compliment your sweater. I prefer my nice over-sized pair of vintage-inspired frames.
To go with the glasses and cuddly sweaters, there must be cats. So many kitten cuddles. I positively love cats, and I guess that's due to the fact that I love to stay inside and read books on most days, so cuddling with a cat is preferable because of how quiet they are. Unfortunately, at this time, I do not own a kitten, but I have high aspirations for my future with cats.
Like I said, I love to take it slow on most days. This means I either stay inside with a nice book,
or I watch the weather from my windows.
I love vintage things. They bring me a thrill that I get only from the beauty of old world charm, making me feel kind of nostalgic, even though I never lived through the times when the things I love thrived. I have this lovely pair of vintage leather gloves that make me wish I could go back to their heyday. It's on the top of my list of things to do when time travel is possible.
Old buildings have the same effect on me, too.
So that is a little bit of what it's like to be a grandma in your 20s. Hopefully the black and white pictures helped illustrate my point.
