What It's Like Being The Loud Friend

We all know, and love, our loud friends.

Every friend group has the loud one. The one who is always down to do something crazy. The one who everyone points to when there is a dance circle and no one is in it. Well, being that friend is the most fun anyone can ever have.

That friend is always down for a fun time. Whether it be going to that one guy’s house with all of the girls to hang out. Or maybe going to a Mexican restaurant and telling the waiter that it’s your best friend’s birthday. He doesn’t have to know that it isn’t for another six months. Hey, she was having a bad day and it’s your job to make her happy. You never know what the loud friend is going to do, but you know it’ll be silly and fun.

But what everyone doesn’t realize is that being the loud friend is exhausting. Constantly being the one down for a good time can really take the energy out of a person. Sure, they’re always down for shenanigans and going on adventures. But, they also love to just sit at home and watch movies.

The loud friend can also be exhausting for everyone else. The loud one is usually an extrovert, so they feed off of other people’s energy. That means that everyone else’s energy can get pretty drained by the loud friend. If you find a friend group that can handle you being crazy, then hold onto them.

Being the loud friend also means that long car rides go through certain stages. The beginning is all hype and the loud friend is in the back seat and is in charge of snacks and telling funny stories to make the time pass. But, about an hour in, you’ve run through your “Seventh Grade Dance Party Playlist” about three times, and if you hear “Yeah!” by Usher one more time, it won’t be your hype up song anymore. Then comes the exhausted stage. The loud friend is trying to keep the momentum up, but when everyone is on that 6 percent grind on their phones, and the driver is already going 10 over the speed limit, you, as the loud friend, must make the hype go on. It is now your job, loud friend, to make this car ride hype again. You have another hour until you get to your friend’s hometown. That means that that hour must consist of nothing but hype. It is your duty, as the loud friend. Pass out some more beef jerky, get the DJ a Sprite, and by golly make that car ride hype again.

The loud friend, like the other friends in the friend group, is crucial. They are the ones responsible for turning a bad day into an amazing night. If you have a loud friend, do not take them for granted. They will always be your biggest fan. If you get an internship, they will tell everyone how proud they are of you. If you are playing an intramural sport, the loud friend will make a sign with your name and number on it and scream for you the entire time. Even if all the loud friend wants to do is go to sleep, they will do anything possible to make you smile. Cherish your loud friend, and don’t ever forget that being the loud friend is the most fun anyone could ever have.

an image of taylor swift standing center stage surrounded by her backup dancers in elegant peacock esque outfits with a backdrop of clouds and a box rising above the stage the image captures the vibrant aesthetics and energy of her performance during the lover era of her eras tour

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
