Here is my story.

What it is Like Living with Chronic Pain
Kayla

Yes, I am only 18. I should not know what it is like to live with chronic pain, but here I am, living with chronic pain.

Around the year 2014 I fell off a snowboard and scorpioned over myself. It was uncomfortable and I could barely move. I went in for uncomfortable X-rays and the doctors never found a problem, but it hurt. Around the spring of 2016 I feel off my horse and landed on my shoulder again, causing more pain. I once again went to get X-rays and they never found anything. I had no idea how to function without being in pain. Some days were better than others, and I learned to live with it.

I came to college this past year and I found a chiropractor when one day I woke up and I couldn’t move my back. She took X-rays again but these ones were different. They were of my neck and back. I went in the next day to learn about the results. In a nutshell, only 4 bones in my neck move correctly and my back is tilted to one side.

I am so excited to be getting the help that I need to be a better me. My riding has already improved and I am overall a happier person. No, I am not completely healed, but I am happy to say I am making progress.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
