If you answer this question with any other response besides “the best in the entire country”, you’re doing it wrong. I may be biased, but how can anyone think that the Maryland flag isn’t the best flag in the United States. I mean to be fair, it does have some competition from California (that bear is pretty cool, I’ll admit). But literally, every other state doesn’t even compare to the beauty that is the Maryland flag. I mean look at it.
Who can honestly say they can hate this fantastic piece of art. I’ve heard people in Texas try to make a case for their flag, but come on, it’s so boring. I will say that it is better than half of the other states, but in relation to Maryland, it doesn’t even come close.
But here’s just a very tiny history lesson about the Maryland flag and why it’s pretty darn cool. As a lot of Marylanders know (because many of us take an extensive class in elementary school on the history of Maryland) the Maryland flag is a mix of two flags, one being the Calvert family crest of Lords Baltimore who founded Maryland, and the other belonging to the Crossland family, the family of the mother of the first Lord Baltimore, George Calvert. However, Maryland really had no official flag before the Civil War. It was decided after this to combine the two crests in order to try and unify the people after the war had created a riff between much of the state. So in 1904, this beautiful flag (and the best flag in the country, don’t forget) finally became our official state flag and Marylanders have never been prouder of it (as you can tell by our somewhat obnoxious obsession with it).
After admiring this flag throughout this article, I’d be surprised if you didn’t love this flag as much as Marylanders do, so go out and buy yourself every article of clothing you can find that has that flag printed on it and wear it proudly (because it looks fantastic obviously).

Oh and by the way, if you ever tell a Maryland person they have a ballin’ flag, don’t worry, we already know that but we appreciate you have good taste.
