What is the Difference between High School and College?

What is the Difference between High School and College?

Rule #1:

High School- No food or drink allowed in class!

College- Students bring entire meals to class.


Rule #2:

High School- Textbooks are provided for free.

College- Textbooks cost a small fortune.


Rule #3:

High School- You wake up early every morning for school.

College- You can schedule your classes for whatever time you choose.


Rule #4:

High School- Your teachers have your schedule and time management already set for you.

College- You have to take responsibility for your own time management.


Rule #5:

High School- Attendance is mandatory.

College- Attendance is strongly suggested to pass the class.



Rule #6:

High School- Make up tests are always an option.

College- Make up tests are rare. If you miss a test day, you get a zero.



Rule #7:

High School- You are in class for 8 hours each day.

College- You are in class for about 3-6 hours each day.



Rule #8:

High School- You are forced to learn all subjects.

College- You can learn about whatever you want.



Rule #9:

High School- You can finish all your homework in one night.

College- It's impossible to do that.


Rule #10:

High School- Assigned reading is finished in class.

College- Assigned reading outside of class that takes you all night to finish.

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
