What Is Missing From The Sims?

Sometimes I write about the beloved PC game, The Sims 4. Some of you that have followed my previous article and that have been avid Sims players since the very beginning in the early 2000’s. Despite the new addition of toddlers and very cool emotions that we have on The Sims 4, there’s still a lot missing. Some people would argue the opposite, but there’s just some charm that needs to make its way back into the games again. People that loved The Sims 2 will understand exactly what I mean.

For starters, when I have a family with a boat load of people, it’s a pain in the ass to move the people out. The process is annoying and difficult on The Sims 4. In other Sims games, I would be able to do it from their computer and send off the first born or whichever family member I wanted out of the house. With saying that, I also miss the way you could kick people out of your house in the game. It was more realistic and The Sims game would take over with a life development and story for the sims themselves. Sometimes you’d find the sim you kicked out rich and kicking you out of their house, sometimes they had a million kids, or sometimes they were either really poor or the next criminal. I thought that was a really exciting thing about the game because it was more realistic and life didn’t stop, but now on The Sims 4, nothing happens to the people you stop playing. Because of this tragic design flaw in The Sims 4, you can now have a young adult mother and be an elderly person, so it’s kind of odd that they don’t age ahead

Another flaw with the game is that they don’t give us the fears and wants that we had in The Sims 2. This had either a humorous way of gameplay or a more human and realistic way to play. Nothing was funnier than making somebody who hated kids be stuck having them, or the sim that feared and wanted something getting what they both wanted and feared. The Sims do have wants in The Sims 4, but even though their emotions are affected in good ways, you don’t see the consequences for if you want and fear something, or if something goes completely wrong. The Sims wants and desires were also driven by personalities, just like their fears. If that was here with the emotions that we have now, it would make it feel like an even more interesting and more authentic gameplay.

With saying that, I do think the other important things will come out, like pets and seasons, because those make the game, but I’d like to see something more from the pets when it comes out, because they had dogs and cats, plus a cursed guinea pig in The Sims 1 with some creepy birds, but only once have they really had one farm animal. Despite the horses in past games, I think if they make a pets pack again, they should put dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, fish, horses, and maybe even cows and chickens or something that gives us more options. Despite the horses in The Sims 3, there were still some things that were missing and there were some glitches like the horse getting taken away because it froze and couldn’t move, so there would need to be major improvements for The Sims 4 addition.

The Sims 4 has become more charming and it’s obvious that the addition of the toddlers has made it a better game again, but we do need more. Sure, I know we will get pets and seasons, but hopefully, it will be like The Sims 3 because that was great. Sadly, they still have ways to go to make us experience the classic charm, and I think wants and fears with easier moving for the sims that switch households would make it an amazing experience again as well. Maybe they could even add memories while they are at it. These are the things that are missing, but I am sure they will give us more eventually.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
