There is something so incredible about the concept of love- there is no exact answer. We could go explore different galaxies, we could search the bottom of the ocean if we could, but we can't. There is too much depth for us to even begin to understand, and that's what makes it beautiful. All of these responses have 1 thing in common - none of us really know. These words are filling in the gaps that we have no absolute idea how to explain. It's mysterious, it's breath taking, it's a light at the end of some tunnel.
We are all different, we all fall in love with different mannerisms, voices, facial expressions, etc... Whether it is from an athlete or from a mysterious poet, we all fall in love with different souls.
I think love is the way the sun loves the human race. It's an unconditional type of feeling. We are destroying this planet but the sun comes up every morning to kiss us with its rays so we are able to survive.
It's something we all search for because we can't buy it in a store.
We see it on a daily basis and something in us sparks, because we want someone to hold, we want that kiss on our forehead when we are upset.
From experience, love is like being in heaven, it's a vulnerable place... Because who knows how long you will be able to stay in something you think is so beautiful and perfect... When in reality everything is flawed.
I think love is a mask, a test, and a basic human need. The fact that we all believe in something that we can not see has a lot to do with hope, and having hope is beautiful. We have such a deep connection with something we can't see, so love is the root we hold with God. Its a connection we crave because we have felt it since birth- we can't wait to give all the love we have in us away.
That's what I think love is, taking a dose of heaven and hoping the feeling never wears off.
It's a natural addiction. It's believing, it's hoping, it's having faith, it's really all that you make it to be. It's you, you are filled with it. Use it to your advantage, and never let that feeling go.
"What love feels like to me is genuine happiness... It's a free feeling, free from worry, free from pain, free from this cold world. Love is a get away... The things and the people I love in life, are the things that make me happiest, besides making other people happy. I love that too. Lol." - La'Tiyera Yeargin, 19
"Love is when you put the person you love ahead of yourself, whether it be a parent, friend, or lover. To me, love isn't the big romantic gestures, it's the small stuff we do everyday. Simply sending a text when you're thinking about them, or not eating the last slice of pizza because you know they want it. Love is patient. Love is kind. Love never fails." - Sarah Hines,20
"Love to me is the most incredible, overwhelming and raw feeling in the world. I think it's pain too. I think love is every raw emotion in one twisted mess. I think it's feeling weightless and carefree and home in your person's arms. I think it's a gut clenching pain and a big stomach ache from happiness and loneliness, and sacrifice. I think it's about trying new things and accepting someones flaws and talents and CHOOSING them every single day, and pushing them to be the best version of themselves in the process because you want them to be happy, even if it means you aren't for awhile. In one phrase, love highlights everything that makes us humans (good or bad) and brings those things out in us in order to find and build a home and a deep connection with the person our soul recognizes as the other part of us." -Jacee Kramer, 20
"Love fore me is when you do absolutely anything you can think of just to bring up the spirits of the person you love. You know? Just doing the little things to make that person smile." -Wyatt Sander, 20
"I think love is first loving Christ and then loving yourself. You can't love anyone else until those two things are checked off the list. Christ is the epitome of love. Love the way God loves you!" -Kaycee Mayfield, 19
"Love is not always the physical things you do for a person but the mental aspects as well. To me the mental aspects of love overpower the physical. Love is also knowing the deepest, darkest roots of someone and it never changing how you love them. Love is being able to spend the whole day with a person doing absolutely nothing and feeling like the world is alright. Love is not having butterflies when you see them but feeling protected when you are with them. Love is being able to go a whole day without talking to that person but never worrying if they are going to play you. Love is saying bye to them but the moment you turn around you instantly miss them because you love them that much... I can go on and on about what love is because I've experienced what bad love is and know what I want to love a person like and vice versa and I'm willing to wait for that real love. Also love is being able to pray with someone and being able to talk to them about God and random things for hours." -Malaycia Lee, 21
"At some point love is no longer just an emotion, it is a choice. You choose to stay with someone, you choose to be loyal, you choose to continue to love them and overlook any flaws because true love knows not one flaw. It's more that just an 'I love you' because what does that even mean. We 'love' pizza, we 'love' all of these little materialistic things and then try and throw the word 'love' onto someone who it the reason we want to wake up in the morning, and the smile on our face when our eyes are swimming in tears. To love someone means so much more than our society even begins to give it credit for. So what is love? It's more than just a four letter word, it's more than just preaching to the void. It's every fiery desire you've ever longed to have for someone- and if you've never so desperately wanted that, you're not ready to love or be loved." -Shelby Jordan, 20
"I believe the meaning of love is feeling safe with someone; knowing they will always protect and care for you as you do for them. It's a feeling of simplicity. It's something you don't have to work at because its a feeling you have in your heart and your gut. It's the willingness to share your faults and knowing they will still love you... It's unconditional and it's peaceful." -Paige Bailey, 19
"Love isn't easy from what I've seen. Of course you have those moments of your typical "love story" (flowers, chocolates, can't stay away from each other..etc...) but real love is having a best friend. The person you want to tell everything to, the one you want to spend both Saturday night and Sunday morning with. It's bickering over stupid little things because you care about each other so much. It's having that person that will stay home with you when you're sick or just lay there with you when you're sad. It's finding someone that will grow with you. It's laughter, honesty, and trust. Love is the one thing that everyone needs, what everyone is trying to find. It's happiness."
"It's scary." -Jenna Kramer, 18
"I would say love is something that is different for everyone. For me I think it is one of the hardest things to describe. It's not just one feeling it is a lot of feelings all mixed together." -Parker Evans, 21
"Love is a very powerful word. Love is a strong affection and concern that you have for another person. There are different feelings of love. Loving our parents, spouse, children, siblings, friends, animals, etc. It's like a tree. They are all branches on your tree but the affection you have for them grow differently. The trunk of the tree is the structure that keeps your 'branches' consistently growing and safe. When you 'water' the tree, the branches grow stronger. The trunk of the tree is an analogy to yourself. When you love yourself, you will be able to love others unconditionally. When your 'trunk' is stable, you will have many 'branches' to love." -Tonya Kramer, 47
