Everyone should have figured out by now that fall has arrived. A wonderful season full of basic things, such as PSLs, woolly threads, and flannels. It’s the time of the year when the leaves change color and fall off of the trees. When the days get shorter and nights get longer. In a college student’s mind, it means the holiday season is approaching and we get to head away from the stress of midterms and go home for a little to have our parents spoil us. But aside from all the typical fall things that are currently evolving, one of my favorite things that happens this time of year is Halloween. But for a college student this one day event has turned into HALLOWEEK. What is Halloweek, one might ask? Well it’s almost a full week (5-7 days) where college students can dress up every night as something different and go out. It’s basically a less intense syllabus week with costumes. I didn’t realize this existed until my freshman year at college. I mean who doesn’t love a holiDAY turning into a holiWEEK! So be prepared campuses because the time is upon us. Read on to look at the ten things you need to know to survive Halloweek:
1. You must have more then one costume prepared
2. Get ready to attend multiple Dynamic Duo parties, where you will be dressing up with another person.
3. The DJs will play many versions of Halloween songs such as Monster Mash, Thriller, and Ghostbusters
4. All establishments will be decorated with spider webs and skeletons, so don’t be spooked if you turn a corner and there is a plastic monster figure staring at you.
5. Your skin will be covered in different types of makeup for the entire week so be ready to exfoliate majorly after.
6. Pinterest costumes weeks before to try and make your own, because this can get pricey.
7. If you can’t make your own get a friend to make it.
8. You won’t recognize anyone so be prepared to have random strangers approach you, but it turns out they are your friends.
9. The drinks will most likely not be orange.
And most importantly...
10. BEWARE OF CLOWNS!!!
