Ask any college student and they will tell you the same exact thing: each semester consists of drastic ups and downs. But while it is hard to accurately convey the essence of certain college experiences (like receiving an email from your professor titled "Class Today" as it is snowing outside, or the sight of an empty parking spot placed perfectly next to your dorm), the Powerpuff Girls do an excellent job of summarizing a typical semester:

1. The start of a new semester!

Before the semester begins, you are confident that it will be the best one yet! You will keep straight A's, get organized, hit the gym, and all of the other promises that you make at the start of each year.

2. Seeing your friends again!

The best part of a new semester, however, is reuniting with your roommates and friends. Home seems so boring without them!

3. Things start off strong...

You wake up early to look nice for the first few days of class. You are happy, healthy, and things are under control!

4. But then the syllabus starts to take off.

Papers, tests, presentations, and projects all start to hit you at once.

5. Suddenly, it is not so easy to get out of bed.

Even though you set five alarms, you snooze them all and run late for class. At this point, you should probably just skip.

6. You get tired of cafeteria food.

Nothing sounds better than a home cooked meal after a long day of class and work.

7. Public bathrooms become less than ideal.

Especially when your neighbors forget how to clean up after themselves.

8. And your one and only comfort...

When people bring their pets to campus. (AKA If you see a crowd of excited college students, it is probably because someone is walking his or her dog.)

9. All the same, college is an empowering time just to be yourself.

From trying new styles and activities to experimenting with your identity, there is so much to discover about who you really are!

10. Your classes can be enriching.

Especially if you pick ones that promote thought, discussion, and friendly debate.

11. There are always fun things happening on campus!

Programs, activities, sporting events, and performances - there is never a dull moment (if you take advantage of all that the school has to offer).

12. And weekends out with your friends...

Quickly turn into your favorite memories. (Except for the one time when that drunk person tried hitting on you.)

13. Overall, it is worth it in the end.

College may be a lot of hard work, but you can still make it the best time of your life.

14. And be sure to live it up while you can!

Because in the blink of an eye, they will be handing you your diploma as you set off into the adult world!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
