In high school, I was a 'natural test taker', and I don't remember studying for a single thing ever. I never looked over my notes, made flash cards, or filled out study guides. At the time, it seemed like I didn't need to; and really, I didn't. But during the entire college application process (and even now, a few weeks into my Freshman year), I had always heard how incredibly important it is to study for college exams, even if it 'came naturally'.
"If you don't study, you'll fail, no matter how smart you are!" That's what I always heard, and it was scary!
I was intimidated by this, especially since I feel as though I don't know how to study at all! Having never studied, I didn't know how to make flash cards or identify the main topics. And with my first tests right around the corner, I was more than nervous; I was absolutely terrified.
That was before I found out what a 'Studyblr' was. A Studyblr is a type of blog on Tumblr that posts photos of notes they've taken and post really helpful tips for students! The community is amazing and inclusive, and I have met amazing people through it. But more than anything else, I have received so much advice and tips from everyone in the community.
Studying still doesn't come naturally to me, but it's easier to do now that I have the help of so many people and such amazing ideas to see.
Another thing these Studyblrs have taught me is: even among all the perfection and aesthetic, it's okay to make mistakes. I've always been a perfectionist to the point that a single stray line or misspelled a word in my notes would cause me to rip the page out and start all over. But so many of these people who I look up to and get inspiration from have truly taught me that it's okay to mess up and just keep going.
One of the best decisions I've made is joining the amazing community that is Studyblrs! Being a part of this amazing community has taught me so much about myself and study skills, as well as guided me into college with an open heart and great expectations.
If you ever find yourself struggling with studying or writing notes, visiting any of these Studyblrs will surely inspire you like they've inspired me!
