It takes the average person 10-20 minutes to fall asleep each night. For an insomniac it can take hours upon hours to fall asleep. It is unbelievably frustrating to not be able to fall asleep when you want to and have to stare up at the ceiling waiting for sleep to overcome you. Each insomniac deals with this frustration differently. Some go to bed extremely early so they can get a normal amount of sleep. Some stay up until they physically cannot keep their eyes open anymore. But one thing we all have in common is the thoughts running through our minds when we are trying to fall asleep.

1. Maybe I'll actually fall asleep quickly tonight

2. Or not...

3. Let's try to count backwards from 100.

4. 100, 99, 98, 97...

5. What do I have to do tomorrow?

6. Wait I'm supposed to be counting backwards from 100.

7. I wonder how long I've been trying to sleep.

8. Do not check the clock it will just make you upset.

9. Why did I look at the clock?

10. Remember that time you embarrassed yourself in front of your crush.

11. *Sings a song over and over again but only one part of it*

12. Maybe if I get up and go to the bathroom I'll fall asleep faster.

13. I'm cold.

14. I'm hot.

15. I'm so tired. Why am I not asleep yet?

16. I hate this so much. This is so stupid.

17. You know what I'm not even tired anymore.

18. Can a person survive on zero sleep?

19. What's the meaning of life?

20. *Imaginary conversations*

21. It is too bright in here.

22. I wonder if I'm awake because someone else is dreaming about me. That's a thing right?

23. I should try and count backwards from 100 again.

24. Why can't I stop thinking?

25. Okay, I'm not going to think about anything.

26. *Intense focusing on breathing*

27. I have so much to do tomorrow.

28. Ugh that barely audible noise is so annoying and is keeping me up.

29. Go to sleep! Go to sleep brain! I'm warning you!

30. I'm never going to fall asleep.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
