Strength. An eight letter word that is commonly used to determine how much physical power or energy one has. But what else can it be used to describe?
Do you stick up for yourself or others? Do you stand in the rain for hours to meet your inspiration? Do you keep studying your butt off for your exam even though you are minutes away from falling asleep? All of these are examples of what strength is, or can be.
Strength is what gets us through everyday. Each day uncovers problems of it's own that we can't prevent -- that we primarily need strength to handle. For most people, getting up and out of bed is a struggle and being able to do that, and that alone, is a symbol of strength. We can't live without it; you can be as bulky or as skinny as you'd like because everyone has strength on the inside that keeps them going.
Did you fail a class in school, but kept doing your best to get better? Did you sacrifice your summer to get a job to help a single parent? Did you push away any negative thoughts about yourself and see through to your worth? Strength is inside us, it's there always - it just stays generally silent until we need it. One thing that's imperative to know is that each and every one of us are going through something right now. Whatever it is that you're experiencing; whether good or bad, "easy" or more difficult to handle, etc... each situation is not impossible to get through.
With the strength in which we were born with, or we've developed overtime, each situation is made easier to handle. Whether your strength is attributed to physical abilities, emotional stability, or a hella rad friend group -- you're never alone in the fight to live your life. Just know that with your own personalized version of strength, and the add-ons that are to come, anything that you are to face - is faceable.
Years ago, when a friend left you and you thought, "How can I get through this?" things didn't seem so bright, but you were strong and you eventually got through it. It does not matter how long it took, only that you succeeded. In the midst of a situation that seems like the end of the world, we generally overlook the strength that we have. It's not unusual to feel weak or helpless. It's a part of the living process in which we discover overtime that we're not as weak or helpless as we sometimes feel we are.
It's inevitable that we will face impossibilities or failures, but just because we face moments that are unbeatable doesn't mean that we are any less strong.
You are strong. You can achieve anything you put your mind to. You can get through anything you put your mind to. It's not so much a matter of how much strength you have, but how much collective strength there is in your support groups, family, online friends, etc... Alone you can survive many things, but together (whether or not your "together" includes more of yourself) you can get through anything. It's just a matter of seeing and understanding it.
