What I Will Miss Most About College Over Winter Break

As break is almost upon us, everyone is becoming more and more excited to be done with finals and classes for the semester and have a much-deserved break from school work and stress. While I am looking forward to not having class, there is one thing that I will miss the most about going home for the holidays: my college friends.

Over the past few months, you start to grow accustomed to spending most of the day with your friends and doing anything and everything together; from going to get meals to taking random road trips together, my college friends make it worth all of the stress over classes and homework.

Being able to go up or down the stairs at any time and know that I will be able to see at least one of my friends is so comforting. Whether its to simply just hang out or order an obscene amount of pizza and watch movies until 2 AM, this is something that I'll really miss when I'm back home.

Whenever we hang out together, everything is more fun. From making fun of the strange people we see at the dining hall to attempting to do the condom challenge for the 50th time, there's never a dull moment when we're together.

Simply sitting together and laughing about anything and everything and sharing stories of our days is something that I look forward to each day. Not being able to have friends almost constantly by my side to talk to and laugh with will be hard to get used to for the next month, but it just makes the spring semester something to look forward to even more.

Our adventures, laughs, and memories have made this semester one that I will remember for a long time to come. Thank you for having my back no matter what and loving me for all of my flaws: my crazy personality, my annoying habits, and my little quirks that you have all come to know and deal with over the past few months.

Thank you for your support and love that you have given me. Thank you for giving me wonderful memories that I will never forget. Our friendship means more to me than you will ever know, and I'm so thankful to have you all in my life. Though winter break will be difficult without you by my side, it'll go by faster than we are willing to admit.

I already can't wait to make more memories with you next semester.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
