My last year here in college and I'm not sure I'm ready to graduate. A lot of my friends will still be here and I'll be moving onto something bigger and hopefully better. There will be new students taking my place in my favorite places around campus and old students that will also be leaving their favorite places.
1. ACE Films
First things first, I'll be missing the Association for Campus Entertainment. I joined ACE my freshman year and I haven't regretted one bit of it. From the movies that we showed to participating in "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," ACE has been there for my entire college experience.
2. Wag
Oh, Wag. I haven't experienced the Waggles (sorry to those that have), but Wag provided me with one of my first meals that seemed like home. It was also the go-to place for my suite-mates and I when we were hungry. This was long before we discovered Wag-Out.
3. Belk
Belk was my first home away from home. It was there that I met the friends that I would talk to and know for the rest of my life. It was an all-girls dorm at one point, and I still remember what room 418 looked like before I decorated it. I just hope that all of the freshmen that go through it now have good memories that they can keep forever.
4. First day of classes
The first day of classes is always kind of fun. You know, reading syllabi even if they're boring, doodling in your notebook as the teacher is going over the plagiarism policy, that kind of thing. This year, I knew at least two people in each of my classes, and I got to hang out with people I haven't seen in months.
5. Schwoodstock
I discovered this my sophomore year while I lived in the Suites. With live music, spray-painted t-shirts, and a host of different activities, Schwoodstock was one of my favorite events.
6. Dorm Life
Unlike some people, I loved living in the dorms. Every single year I met new people, and even if we didn't really hang out much by the end, there were still people that I got to talk to whenever I could. Group dinners were few and far between, and I was fortunate enough to live with one of my best friends for two years. Not only that, but I lucked out on having great suite-mates and meeting international students. UNCW is where my heart lies.
