As a Cubs fan, I don't usually ascribe to lofty ideas or high dreams, because, you know, I'm a Cubs fan. In previous years, especially when they would be doing very well, the Cubs always choke.
I say that in the most lovingly way possible. See, that's the thing about Cubs fans! We can openly make fun of our own team and still be in love with everything about them. However if you're not a Cubs fan and you're bashing us, you better watch out because over 5 million fans could come running after you...
This year feels different. This year feels electric.
What if this really is the year?
What if we win the World Series?
I'm actually getting teary eyed just thinking about this. Allow yourself to be transported through space and time to the middle of October. Everyone is standing and people are crying. It's the top of the ninth inning. This is it.
The baseball cracks against the bat and is sent off into left field. A run is batted in that wins the last game of the World Series. Everyone jumps out of their seats and people are kissing, fainting, crying, anything. "Go Cubs Go" is blaring out of the hearts of everyone in Wrigley Field. The energy and love felt in that song is unlike anything else in this world.
Oh my gosh, my heart is beating so fast. Could you even imagine?
Bad day to be a baseball.https://t.co/z9hf6qoT0y

We have been waiting over 100 years for a win like this. We all understand that the odds are completely against us as we've been waiting so long and the "curse" hasn't been broken yet. We need this.

Let's think critically for a moment. What would we do? How we could go on for the rest of our lives? Does winning the World Series finally mean that everyone will stop reminding us of how much we suck? If it really does happen this year, let us remember to stay humble.
Let me make this plea to all of baseball: Please let us be excited about this year. You all had your prime. I get that we used to be awful, and we may be awful again in the future. We have a whole new chance this year to show the world that we are worth loving as a team.
This isn't just a World Series win. This is our life. We are the Chicago Cubs.
