10 Things I Learned In High School

1. At the End Of The Day, Only You'll Be There for Yourself

Over the years, I've seen people that want me to succeed enter and leave my life. The one person that was always there was me.

2. People Change And That's Something You Have to Accept

It's a time where everyone is trying to discover themselves. Sometimes it's for the better and sometimes it's for the worst. You can't change who they are, if you don't like who they've become you have to decide if they still have a place in your life.

3. How To Properly Talk to People

Through the numerous leadership positions I've had throughout high school, I've learned that there's a certain way you have to talk to people to get tasks done efficiently.

4. My Happiness Is More Important Than My Progress Report

The first three years of high school, I spent trying to please everyone but myself. This took an extreme toll on my physical and mental health. This past year I've learned to let things happen on their own and however it turns out, it's just meant to be. Once the damage is done I can't change it so why stress.

5. Time Management Was More Important Better Than Being Smart Sometimes

A sense of mastery over your time makes it easier to accomplish what you need to do and balance each deadline. It's nice to be smart but without direction or application it's useless.

6. How To Fall Asleep In Class Without Getting Caught

Between trying to keep your grades up in all my accelerated classes, being in multiple clubs, and trying to maintain a social life, I had to find time to sleep somehow.

7. What Seems Like A Big Deal Today, Won't Be In 2 days

8. Connections Are Key

It's more about who you know than what you know.

9. The Best People You Meet May Not Be The Best People For You

Water and oil are both great, but they can't mix. As cool as someone may look on paper, sometimes each of your dynamics can't mix.

10. The Mitochondria Is The Powerhouse Of The Cell.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
