What I Hope To Accomplish For Myself This Summer

And how I think it can become my best summer, ever.

What I Hope To Accomplish For Myself This Summer

Summer is always a time of change. Having finished one school year, you get to enjoy the sun and shine, until the next school year rolls around. It is a never ending cycle that happens for students of all ages across America. Each summer is different, and yet, some things manage to stay the same no matter how old I am. However, now that I can say I successfully completed one year of college, I hope that I can try to make the most of my summer, and try to accomplish things that I have struggled with in the past. Here are some of my goals:

Be more spontaneous.

I contradict myself sometimes with my thoughts on schedules: I either love them, or absolutely loathe them. During the summer, I often prefer to have an advanced notice on plans being made, and often get frustrated when something is planned without any further notice. This summer, though, I hope to change that. I don't want to be dragging people by not wanting to go with a plan because I'm too tired or I had something I wanted to do in advance. I want to be able to get up on my feet and DO things with people, and have fun just living in the moment. And isn't that what summer is all about?

Go shopping.

Shopping can overwhelm me sometimes. Going to a clothing store can occasionally make me anxious, due to the amount of cute clothes available. I often will want to buy everything in the store, and have a hard time picking between items! But this summer, I hope some of that anxiety will go away. I want to be able to go to a clothing store knowing what I want, and not feeling guilty about spending money on cute clothes! Clothes are the art that makes up my body's canvas, and they are the best way I can express myself. I can't wait to expand my wardrobe!

Get in shape.

Not that I'm super overweight or too skinny, but I could definitely work on my physique, and summer is the perfect time to do that. With all these new changes happening to me in my life, working on getting an awesome body and feeling healthier than ever will definitely make a positive outcome, and change so many things about me. Here's to a new me!

Watch a bunch of new movies.

The summer blockbuster has been a staple of American culture for years, and this year is no different, with tons of cute animated movies, funny comedies, and amazing adventure films coming out. I'll definitely be hitting up the local cineplex to check out new releases, but also hopefully watching old films with friends too. It's a great way to bond with people, and perhaps find a beloved story you hadn't discovered before. Plus, there are plenty of classic films I still haven't seen!

Spend lots of time in the sun.

I was always an indoors kid growing up - I'm not athletic at all and the house where I live does not have a very big backyard to play in. Now that I'm older, however, I'm hoping I can play out in the sun in my own way. I love being able to sit on my porch while reading a book or catching up on my YouTube subscriptions, and finding new places to explore and investigate. Just today my friends and I took a less traveled path at the beach and combed along the sand looking for anything left behind. I'm always looking for an adventure!

Go on long car rides, windows down, music blaring.

Car rides are very therapeutic to me. I love being able to look out the window and see my surroundings, while music is on the radio. I have discovered many cool things while on car rides, such as beautiful homes, nice restaurants, and quirky shops. There is nothing I like better than taking a drive with my family just to enjoy the quaintness of driving in a car. This summer, I hope I can continue doing that, maybe even to a greater extent.

Eat at new restaurants.

Though eating at a familiar restaurant where you know what to order is nice, it's awesome to go to a new place and have no idea what to get on the menu. Food makes the world go round, and trying new places to eat is always fun. You truly never know what to expect when you go to a restaurant for the first time, and summer, when more people are out and about, is the best time to do that.

So far, my summer has been rocking. Yet, by doing these few things, I hope I can take it to the top of becoming the best summer I've had yet. Let's see how it all goes!

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
