Holi is an ancient Indian Festival that is popular in India. The purpose of this celebration is to celebrate the love between Radha and Krishna; also known to welcome Spring, a festival to celebrate the abounding colors of spring and to say "bye-bye" to winter.
NIGHT BEFORE HOLI
A bonfire is lit (known as Holika Dahan) where people gather around to perform a ritual to hope for the inner evil to be destroyed; later to sing and dance around the bonfire.
THE DAY OF HOLI
People throw powdered color on one another, while music is playing on the side and dancing. Holi is celebrated for a total of 16 days in the commemoration of the love between Radha and Krishna (until Rangpanchmi).
Fun Facts
1. A famous drink originally drank during holi that is called Bhang includes a mixture of Cannabis leaves/flowers, Milk, water etc.
2. Removes the sign of inequality among people disregarding class and background
3. According to Indian Mythology, Holika was burned by Prahlad when she tried burning the child so Holika Dahan is celebrated for this reason also.
