What is Holding You Back From the Success You Want?

We all have intentions to be the best versions of ourselves, but sometimes, life happens and it gets in the way of us having the success we really want. I have had plenty conversations with women who are ambitious, but just stuck, and they just can’t seem to figure out why! It’s something they are unaware of that is holding them back from getting the success they truly desire. They have no clue how many emotions, bad habits, or mind shifts they need to overcome first before success happens.

So, you call yourself ambitious, but are you really ambitious? Do you wake up in the morning knowing exactly what you have planned for your day? Structure is one of the major components of what will set you up for success. In this crazy world, we are constantly distracted. Sometimes, we can spend hours on social media, watching television, reading through emails, or even talking on the phone! When we have a structure in place, such as a daily schedule or routine, it’s so much easier to follow and stick to. My motto is “put it in your calendar.” It’s so easy to forget what we have planned or make other plans unknowingly, so this method can work if you put it to work.

Are you listening to other people rather than yourself? You may be sharing your goals or dreams with people who don’t really understand you. Your goals may be scaring them. Some people are very practical. They haven’t even thought about what they truly want, desire, or how great their life could get. This is a sign that you are sharing your goals with the wrong people. I challenge you to change your environment. Find people who have similar goals just like you. You will begin to make lifelong friends and thrive in this environment.

Are you afraid to take risks? You have these ideas and goals inside of you, but you’re afraid. You're maybe wondering what people will think of you or whether you'll have enough money to achieve your goals. You will never know until you take the risks. The most successful people on this planet are the people who took risks. Yes, some failed, but they tried again, and so can you. Failure is a part of success, failure is a part of progression. Failure does not mean you have been defeated, failure is a sign that you are getting closer to your goal if you choose not to give up. Failure only defeats the person who quits.

What needs to happen for you to get from one level to the next? Do you need to change your environment, incorporate a daily routine, or get out of your comfort zone? Sometimes we need support, guidance, and mentoring to get to the next level. We weren’t created to do everything on our own. If you would love support to get to the next level in your life and career, click the link to schedule a call with me: http://bit.ly/2cLaH3X

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?
