After watching all the "High School Musical" movies, I have come to realize that these movies do hold value. Although the value may be hidden, after knowing the movies by heart, you're able to discover some things about these movies.
Even though it's hard to admit, life will never be like "High School Musical." It just isn't the way life is. People don't just break out into song and dance when they need to work things out or have a dream of wanting more. Life is something of value, and "High School Musical" makes that clear when all of the characters go through a tough situation and then wind up learning from their actions and the consequences that come along with them.
If something is meant to be, it will be. I think this is a very valuable lesson within the "High School Musical" movies. Throughout each of the movies, Sharpay is always trying to veer Troy off of the Gabriella bandwagon, and at one point, she succeeds. As a result of this, Gabriella leaves Troy and her friends behind because she feels betrayed and cheated. Since Troy's love fest for Sharpay doesn't last long, he and Gabriella wind up happy again. I think many people today don't realize that there are things that will happen in relationships and friendships, but if two people are meant for each other, they will be together.
Additionally, "High School Musical" has taught me to pursue my dreams, even if you will be judged for those dreams. Troy loved to sing and be a part of the school musical, and yet his friends and family told him that he could only pursue the more "reasonable" choice -- basketball. Yes, Troy loved basketball, but he also loved singing, so why shoot down his dreams? We learn in the third movie that, in college, he was going to pursue both of his dreams, singing and basketball. This is something that is critical to today's daily life. There is so much speculation about who a person is supposed to be and what they're supposed to do in life. No one should make life decisions for you. As a person, you have the right to follow your dreams, no matter how foreign they may seem to another person.
"High School Musical" may seem like a children's movie, because it is, but there are signals that are directed at all age groups. While growing up, each person goes through different yet similar struggles, and sometimes all we need is a good movie to help us realize certain things about life. Life is full of decision-making and consequences; if something is meant to be, it will be, and you must always follow your dreams.
